     About Us
Our Challenge:
Our challenge to the community comes in the form of a call to be educated and aware. With this awareness we hope for a revolution and a voice that calls out and intervenes on behalf of the vulnerable and oppressed. We have the power to help end this atrocity against humanity if we work together.

Our History:

The idea of the Freedom 5k took shape out of the realization that many people don’t truly understand the depth or breadth of the existence of human trafficking or slavery on a local level.

As excited and committed people continued to get in line to be involved in 5k runs for other noble and important causes, it became clear that people would in fact, rally behind this cry for freedom if they only knew the realities of the injustice of this “new” slavery. In order to educate, engage and connect people to the cause, we started this run.

Our Mission:

The mission of the Freedom 5K is to raise awareness and funds for the eradication of modern day slavery.  We hope to generate care, concern, and action; gain the tools necessary to identify victims of trafficking; look for solutions to the problems of slavery; and become proactive in preventing further enslavement of others. We hope to mobilize our community to live purposefully and in a way that does not exploit others or take from another person’s labor or personhood.

The hope of the Freedom 5K is to not only offer information and an opportunity for people to get involved, but to unify and promote other organizations that are working to prevent slavery, end slavery, or restore those being freed from slavery.

We are 100% dependent on the support of private donations and rely solely on the efforts of our volunteer staff. Since 2008, we have been serving our community by educating people and creating opportunities for them to stand up and say NO to human trafficking.

All the profits raised from the event come back to you, the public, in one of two ways. It is used to provide educational materials, or it is given to local service providers here in Kitsap and King County. We feel that it is our responsibility to support the vulnerable men, women, and children that live in close proximity to us.

We work in conjunction with a registered 501 C3 Non Profit, New Life Church.
